Comments

A collaborative novella about college life in Helena, Montana, during the 1930s, and the social interactions among a group of students, professors and locals. Years later, two members of the group make it in Hollywood working in western films and return to Helena to shoot a few of their movies, where their earlier loves and passions from their days as students get in the way. The title Strange Affection has led some cataloguers to interpret the plot as involving lesbian affections, but those suggestions are at best vague. Signed by the two authors, Edna Anderson and Helen Nonam, on the title page; they were apparently residents of Los Angeles. The novel was printed in London for Dawson's Book Shop of Los Angeles, which seems odd in that the Dawsons were well acquainted with the numerous printers of LA.
