Inscription in ink on the front free endpaper: "From the books of / Robert McAlmon." The inscription is in the hand of Victoria McAlmon (1879-1969), the older sister of writer and publisher Robert McAlmon (1895-1956). She traveled to London and Paris in the early 1920s to support him in his personal and literary endeavors, and she became well acquainted with his circle of friends, including William Carlos Williams, with whom Robert had a close literary collaboration. When Robert died in Desert Hot Springs, California in 1956, Victoria inherited his remaining books and archives, and steadfastly worked to preserve his reputation as a writer, publisher, and influential figure in the Paris literary scene of the 1920s and 30s. The books and archives she inherited have been with her descendants until recently. She usually identified the books from his library with the statement (or a similar one) "From books of / Robert McAlmon."Price: $100.00
