The travel memoirs of French composer, librettist, writer and woman of many thespian talents, Amelie-Julie Candeille (1767-1834), who left France for exile in England following Napoleon's return from Elba. She recounts musical events in Brighton and London and writes about English horses, taste, cuisine, interiors of homes, a dinner menu, etc. Interestingly her memoir is in part told through the voice of another character.
