David Belch, proprietor of the Scarab Press and well-known biblio-bon vivant of the San Francisco Bay Area (circa 1960s-2010), commissioned several fine binders to design and produce bindings on Printing Poetry by Clifford Burke, that he had published to wide acclaim in 1980. Three of the binders were Sün Evrard of La Celle Les Bordes, France; Louise Genest of Outremont, Quebec; and Eleanore E. Ramsey of San Francisco. This binding bears Evrard's blind-stamped name on the front paste-down and blind-stamped "FIE" on the rear paste-down. On the colophon page, Evrard has neatly struck through in pencil the statement that the binding was by Cardoza-James of San Francisco (who were the binders for the trade edition) and replaced that with her signed holograph statement, dated April 15, 1987, that she was the designer of this special binding.Price: $3,000.00
