Comments

One of Joseph Hall's earliest published sermons, delivered at Paul's Cross on Good Friday, 1609. Hall (1574-1656) was a popular clergyman and writer on theological and philosophical subjects, who had a great satirical eye. He once said that his pecuniary distress required that he write books in order to afford them. See the ODNB.
