CommentsThe famous Seatonian Prize Poems, an annual award that commenced in 1750 with the bequest of clergyman Thomas Seaton (1684-1741), who dictated that the prize be awarded to the best poem in English on the subject of the supreme being. Christopher Smart (1722-71), then a student at Cambridge, won the prize the first five out of six years.
