CommentsThe celebrated treatise on scientific and comparative geography by the German geographer Bernhardus Varenius (1622-1650), first published in Amsterdam in 1650. It became the standard textbook on the subject for a century. Isaac Newton edited and revised this edition for his students at Cambridge; it was Newton's first published work.
