CommentsA contemporary domestic chronicle about the Caxton family, and a departure from the author’s earlier historical and Newgate novels, which Bulwer-Lytton notes in the preface is an experiment. The experiment apparently worked. The Caxtons was one of his most popular novels, and in 1853 Bulwer-Lytton published a sequel to it entitled My Novel. Contemporary bookplate on the front paste-downs.
