Comments

Two works of historical fiction, both written in the first person, based on the lives of two prominent women in classical history, Cleopatra (51-30 BC) and Octavia the Younger (c. 66-11 BC), both of whom were famously involved with Mark Anthony, one as a lover and the other as a lover and wife. In her introduction, Sarah Fielding (1710-68) discusses the difference between writing fiction based entirely on the imagination and fiction based on actual characters in history.
