Physical Description20 monthly parts bound in 2 vols, 8vo, later red half morocco by Harcourt of Boston, red cloth sides, gilt rules and lettering, t.e.g. 40 plates. Original upper printed wrappers bound in, with numerous examples of the inserted advertisements, as well.
CommentsThe second of Trollope’s “Palliser” novels, which chronicles the history of Plantagenet Palliser and his wife, Lady Glencora. This is only the second work by Trollope to be issued in parts. Part X is a second issue, with the month corrected to “October” on the front cover. The front wrapper of each 20 parts has the contemporary signature in pencil of Robert Stone, so that while this parts issue is bound up, it is not a "made up" or "married" set. Copies in parts with the same signature of a contemporary reader on each part are scarce.
