CommentsThe second edition of the novels of Charles Brocken Brown (1771-1810), America's first novelist of distinction and originality. The type for this edition by Moses Polock of Philadelphia was entirely reset, but the order of the titles follows the seven-volume Samuel Goodrich edition of 1827 and it also reprints the anonymous memoir of Brown from that edition. Odd volumes of this edition (and the Goodrich edition, as well) are sometimes found, but complete sets are scarce. This set has the contemporary ink signature on each front free endpaper of Emma M. Morse.
