A collection of 20 poems by the important Knickerbocker poet Fitz-Greene Halleck (1790-1867), with three previously unpublished poems. An interesting association copy: from the library of fellow Knickerbocker James Lawson (1799-1880), an author, journalist, and a friend and collaborator with many in the literary scene of the period. See the DAB. Though he did not put his name in the book, Lawson made numerous marginal annotations inn pencil about the poems, e. g.: "graceful," "far fetched," "Oh, Oh!!," "bad taste," "very good - so far," etc. This volume came to us with several other books from the library of James Lawson, some which he signed and some he did not.
