CommentsA handsome large format illustrated edition of Howells' famous Christmas story, one of the most popular and often read American Yuletide tales. Christmas Every Day was first published in 1893 with two other stories. The illustrator of this edition, Harriet Roosevelt Richards (1867-1932), was a prominent artist of the time. She studied under Howard Pyle at the Brandywine School, whose influence in her work is obvious. Appropriate ink inscription on the front free endpaper: "Merry Christmas to Adeline from Waller & Sue 1908."
