CommentsAn exhaustive - 646 pages - guide to gardening, including vegetable and fruit gardens, gardens for pleasure, green houses, and the keeping of exotic plants, etc. Walter Nicol (1769-1811) was a designer of gardens and greenhouses in and around Edinburgh, and he wrote several works on various aspects of horticulture. The advertisement leaf following the title-page states "The Author of this Work, gives Designs for Gardens, Parks, Lawns, Approaches &c., in the newest taste . . . Letters addressed to W. Nicol, Planner, Leith Walk, Edinburgh, will be duly attended to."
