¶ An important study on the state of agriculture, written almost coincidentally as Arthur Young (1741-1820) was inspecting farms for potential purchase. Young became more successful as a prolific author on agricultural and related subjects than he was at farming itself, though he was celebrated for his experimentation with agricultural methods.
