Comments¶ An account of the mountainous region of Northern Italy known as the Dolomites, by the intrepid Amelia B. Edwards (1831-1892), English novelist, poet, journalist, and Egyptologist, as well as a traveler and travel writer. Edwards and her female companion Lucy Renshawe traveled to Italy in the summer of 1872, specifically to see the Dolomites. "At the time of Edwards's visit, the Dolomites were described as being terra incognita, and even educated persons had never heard of them" - Joan Rees, Amelia Edwards, Traveller, Novelist & Egyptologist (1998).
