Comments

¶ A spurious account of Byron's travels around the eastern Mediterranean on his yacht in 1821, published by J. Limbird in an attempt to capitalize on the Byron craze in the wake of the poet's death. Limbird had his hand in a other works on Byron, as well. Wise calls for a portrait, which is lacking from a number of recorded copies (including the digitized one on Hathitrust from the Princeton Library), but we have confirmed that there was a portrait with the imprint of J. Limbird. The only copy found at auction (Bloomsbury, 2004) also lacked the portrait.
