8vo, 19th century green half morocco, red paper boards, gilt lettering, t.e.g., others untrimmed. Without the half-title and frontis portrait.

A rare piece of Byroniana and apparently a spurious tale by the unrecorded Captain Benson, published by J. Limbird to capitalize on the Byron craze in the wake of his death. Limbird had his hand in a other works on Byron, as well. Wise calls for a portrait, which is lacking from a number of recorded copies (including the digitized one on Hathitrust from the Princeton Library), but we have confirmed that there was a portrait imprint of J. Limbird. The only copy found at auction (Bloomsbury, 2004) also lacked the portrait.
