A novel about American life from the perspective of a politican's daughter by the member of a political family, Myra Sawyer Hamlin (1856-1927), who was related by marriage to Hannibal Hamlin and whose father worked for reconstruction efforts in Charleston, South Carolina. This was her only work of fiction.
