¶ An anthology of 50 poems from lessor celebrated poets - poetical waifs - compiled by Longfellow and introduced with his poem entitled "Proem." The interesting assortment of poets includes Jones Very, Harriet Martineau, Philip Freneau, Henry Vaughan, Thomas Churchyard, Robert Browning and Shelley. Inscribed on the verso of the front free endpaper "Rev. E. S. Gannett / with the regards / of the Editor. Jan. 1845." Ezra Stiles Gannett was a prominent Unitarian clergyman in Boston. The presentation binding is one of several the binder Peter Low of Boston did for Longfellow. Low's small binder's ticket in the upper corner of the front paste-down.Price: $1,250.00
