Comments¶ The famous satirical work of science fiction by Norwegian-Danish philosopher, playwright and miscellaneous writer Ludvig Holberg (1684-1754). Journey to the World Under-Ground was first published in Latin as Nicolai Klimii Iter Subterraneum in 1741. It quickly received wide acclaim and translations soon followed. Gove notes there were "59 editions in 11 languages, 34 of them in the 18th century." It rivaled Robinson Crusoe and Gulliver's Travels in popularity, and inspired its own imitators.
