CommentsA story of unrequited love with a gloomy ending by novelist, playwright and poet George Monck Berkeley (1763-1792), grandson of the philosopher George Berkeley. This was Berkeley's first book, followed by two plays, two more novels and a collection literary relics, a reflection of his antiquarian interests. His mother edited his collected poems, published posthumously in 1797, following his untimely death. See the DNB.
