Comments

The third American edition of the famous tales by the Brothers Grimm, preceded by editions in 1826 and 1828. This one is edited by Eliza Follen and uses the Edgar Taylor translation, as did the previous editions. Follen (1787-1860), née Cabot, was a prominent Bostonian, author, poet and active member of the various abolitionist groups. "She was for years one of the notable personages of Boston. Every one respected her, but not every one loved her" - DAB.
