Comments

Thorndale or The Conflict of Opinions, a novel written in the form of the diary of Charles Thorndale, is one of the great 19th century fictional works of ideas and philosophical and religious opinions; and it remains enjoyable today. It is only one of two works by miscellaneous writer, poet and philosopher William Henry Smith (1808-1872), whom the ODNB describes as "one of the most solid and productive of the denizens of the Victorian literary world to have been completely forgotten."
