CommentsThe uncommon second of two collections of poems by Anne Penny (1731-1784). This one reprints 27 of the 39 poems from her first collection (Poems, with a Dramatic Entertainment, 1771), with seventeen additions, including poems on Anson's voyages and the death of Captain Cook. It also includes poems addressed to Thomas Gray, David Garrick, Mrs. Montagu and Horace Walpole, as well as The Birth Day, a short play in three acts based on an essay by Addison. Penny's earlier Poems, with a Dramatic Entertainment, is not uncommon, but this title is much less frequently found.
