CommentsA separately published extract from Nicholas Cox's The Gentleman's Recreation: in Four Parts, viz: Hunting, Hawking, Fowling, Fishing . . . (London, 1677 and several later editions). ESTC describes Cox, about whom little is recorded, as being active circa 1673-1731. The publisher of this volume, J. Dixwell, specialized in books on husbandry, hunting, trades and arts. He was active circa 1765-1785 and did not supply dates for the majority of his publications.
