CommentsOne of several contemporary exposés into the 19th century French forger, Vrain-Denis Lucas (1818-1880), a.k.a “the prince of forgers.” Inscribed in the upper margin of the front wrapper "A Monseiur . . . S. Turner / Hommage des editeurs / H. Bordier." Bookplate of Syracuse, NY, book collector Charles Walker Andrews on the front paste-down, with his notation in pencil that this was purchased from James Tregaskis in London in December 1935.
