Comments

¶ A highly regarded travel narrative by an Englishman with an aristocratic background, Sir Charles Augustus Murray (1806-1895). During his stay in the United States, Murray lived with the Pawnee Indians, travelled throughout the midwest territories, the South and Cuba. A few years later Murray wrote a novel based on his experiences, The Prairie-Bird (1844).
