Comments¶ A famous 16th century chivalric romance, written by Francisco de Moraes (1500-1572) and first translated into English in 1596 by Anthony Munday. Southey compared the original Spanish and Portuguese texts and revised Munday's translation. The first volume contains a lengthy introduction by Southey on the history of Palmerin of England and its importance in the history of English and romance literature. Small bookplate of Grenville Kane on the front paste-downs.
