Comments

¶ A pioneering work of collaboration between poet and artist and recognized as a landmark work of its kind. The instigator behind it was Horace Walpole, who was friends with Bentley, Gray and the publisher Dodsley. The text reprints four poems by Gray and two, “A Long Story” and "Hymn to Adversity," appear here for the first time. ¶ Bookplate of American book collector Charles Walker Andrews on the front paste-down.
