Comments

¶ The second published work by Thomas Lovell Beddoes (1803-1849), a famous tragedy written when he was 16 which was praised by several of the principal participants in the Romantic movement. It is suitably bound with Walter Scott's Halidon Hill (first edition, Edinburgh, 1822); John Russell's Don Carlos (second edition, London, 1822); and Byron's Werner (first edition, first issue, London, 1823). Three of the four plays are bound without half-titles; and the Beddoes is without the final leaf of advertisements.
