Comments¶ The causes of the English civil war debated in a dialogue between interlocutors named A and B. Hobbes' treatise, one of several dialogues he wrote on civil and historical subjects, was suppressed when it was written in 1668 and did not appear in print until 1679. This third edition is advertised by the bookseller W. Crooke as being the first edition based on the original manuscript. Book label of collector Abel Berland on the front paste-down.
