Comments

An important translation of Leaves of Grass by Leon Bazalgette which remained the definitive French translation for a number of years. OCLC records an 1908 edition of this in one volume of 701 pages, with one holding (HRC), which is described as possibily an extra-illustrated proof copy for the translator. All other editions on OCLC are dated 1909, and several of them, like this one, have "Deuxème Édition" on the title-page and wrapper of the second volume only. Inscribed by Bazalgette on the half-title. Perforated ownership initials of "M.F." on each front wrapper.
