Comments

¶ An epistolary fictional account of an American in London, who writes to his friends in New England and comments on national traits, fashions, literature and language, including letters specifically on famous English literary forgers and London booksellers. Tyler succeeded in keeping The Yankey in London anonymous, even apparently from his publishers. See Thomas Tanselle’s Royall Tyler (Harvard University Press, 1967), pages 189-205.
