CommentsThe first collection of poetry by the actor and poet John Cunningham (1729-1773), dedicated to David Garrick. According to the DNB, when Cunningham sent Garrick the dedication copy, Garrick "sent Cunningham the meagre sum of 2 guineas. Instead of complaining publicly, Cunningham sent the money back to London, directing that it be applied to the newly established trust for needy actors."
