Comments

A play loosely based on Molière's L'Avare (1668). The Miser was Fielding's most successful comedy and was initially performed 23 times. The epilogue is by Colly Cibber, spoken by Catherine Raftnor, who soon became Mrs. Clive, as noted in the margin in a contemporary hand.
