Comments

¶ The first translation into English of De Veritate Religionis Christianæ by the Dutch humanist Hugo Grotius (1583-1645), first published in Latin in 1627. Some copies have both a letterpress title-page and an engraved title-page, and other copies have one or the other. This copy has only the engraved title, and opposite it is a printed explanation of its elaborate depiction entitled "The minde of the frontispiece, or title page."
