¶ An historical romance that begins in Lindisfarne shortly after the first Jacobite uprising. Porter’s popular novels served as one of the models for the historical form, inspiring such better-known practitioners as Sir Walter Scott. Contemporary ink signature of Hannah Ann Maxwell on each title-page. Maxwell of Polloc bookplate on the front paste-downs.
