Comments

Byron's third book, a collection of his youthful poetry, consisting of the forty-one poems from Fugitive Pieces (1806), the twelve additional poems from Poems on Various Occasions (1807), and twelve poems that appear here for the first time. Brougham's scathingly critical review of Hours of Idleness in the Edinburgh Review prompted Byron to respond with English Bards and Scotch Reviewers a year later.
