CommentsAn uncommon biography of Thomas Day (1748-1789), the iconoclastic writer and author of the famous story for children, The History of Sandford and Merton (1783-89). James Keir (1735-1820) was a prominent chemist and industrialist who sympathized with Day and other like-minded men and women of the times, many of whom he befriended at the Lunar Society of Birmingham. Contemporary minor corrections in the text, as well as some contemporary annotations in pencil in a learned hand.
