¶ The uncommon - and handsomely produced - first book by Thomas Park (1759-1834), an engraver turned poet and later turned antiquary, who became an important editor and compiler. Anna Seward and William Cowper encouraged Park to publish his poetry and they are duly acknowledged, and there are numerous references in the poems to other literati as well, viz: Scott, Charlotte Smith, Mason and others. See the DNB online for an interesting account of Park's career. ¶ This issue on large paper is uncommon and noticeably larger than the regular issue.
