Comments¶ An eloquent and tough defense of the Union by Henry Augustus Boardman (1808-1880), a prolific author and accomplished orator as well as a prominent Philadelphia Presbyterian clergyman. Boardman extols the virtues of the Compromise of 1850, an act passed by Congress and signed into law by President Millard Fillmore. ¶ A fitting association copy: on the front wrapper is the ownership signature of “His Exc.y Millard Fillmore - / President of the / United States.”.
