Comments¶ An attractive edition of the famous and entertaining memoirs of Philibert Grammont (sometimes spelled with one "m"), with its vivid description of the scandalous court of Charles II. The present edition, well embellished with copious notes and supplementary material and a large gallery of contemporary portraits, is still described as the best of English editions. Bookplate on the front paste-down of Rev. Henry Philip Marsham, Lord of the Manor of Hevingham, Rippon Hall, Norfolk, as well as the rector in nearby Brampton.
