Comments¶ In late 1756 and 1757 Goldsmith was employed intermittently as an assistant schoolmaster at Peckham, in South London, where there was a school kept by a Dr. Milner, a dissenting minister. The present signature appears to be part of a leaf from a book acquired by Goldsmith during that brief interlude. Manuscript material of any sort in the hand of Oliver Goldsmith is very uncommon.
