¶ The sequel to King Solomon’s Mines, and the novel in which Haggard attempted to kill off his popular hero Allan Quatermain. However, like Doyle and Sherlock Holmes, Haggard was unsuccessful and new Quatermain stories continued to appear as late as 1927. Bookplate of William F. Gumblelon on the front paste-down.
