Comments

¶ Maundrell (1665-1701) was stationed in Aleppo from 1696 to 1701 as chaplain of the Levant Company. His account of Baalbeck and Palmyra are the first such descriptions by an Englishman. Engraved armorial bookplate of “Colonel Cooper” on the front pastedown.
