The published ceremonies of the dedication in Concord of a monument to those local citizens who lost their lives in the Civil War, with contributions by several central participants in the transcendentalist movement, including a 24-page oration by Emerson, poems by F. B. Sanborn, George Bartlett and Samson Mason, and a report by E. R. Hoar. The frontispiece is a fine photograph of the monument.
