¶ The collected writings to date of Hartford Wit David Humphreys, with substantial material published here for the first time, including his play “The Widow of Malabar; or The Tyranny of Custon,” first performed at the Southward Theater, Philadelphia, May 7, 1790. Also present are all of Humphreys’ major poems (“The Armies of America,” “The Happiness of America,” “Mount Vernon, An Ode,” etc.). ¶ Stoddard & Whitesell note two issues; this one is the issue without the review from the Columbian Magazine.
