Comments

One of Collins’ scarcest novels, an exploration of the lives of “those who have drawn blanks in the lottery of life . . . the friendless and the lonely, and the wounded and the lost.” The tale centers on outcasts, wayward women and a utopian hero who tries to help them. Though stated on the title-page “First Series,” The Fallen Leaves was unsuccessful with the reading public and a sequel never appeared, though Collins maintained, in his usual boisterous fashion that it was one of his best novels. W.A. Foyle bookplate on the front paste-downs.
