CommentsA collection of contributions by the members of the Savage Club, a literary group founded in 1857 named for the poet Richard Savage, which includes works, mostly fiction, by W. S. Gilbert, Mortimer Collins, George Grossmith, Artemus Ward, Thomas Hood, G. M. Fenn, and George A. Sala. The illustrations, the majority of which are engraved by the Dalziel Brothers, include works by Doré, Cruikshank and Gilbert. Embossed stamp of W. H. Smith & Son Library on the front free endpaper of vol. I. There was a third volume issued in 1897.
